#MeetMTA: Meredeth Brower, Product Lead

The Miller Tanner Associates (MTA) difference is our people. That’s why we want to introduce you to our team of superstars that brings our corporate meetings and events to life for our clients.

Today, we introduce you to MTA’s Product Lead Meredeth Brower. Meredith provides expertise and guidance for training excellence through the use of Miller Tanner Associates’ VALTs- Virtual Assessment, Learning and Training Source.

Meet Meredeth

Tell us about your current role with MTA?

As Product Lead, I am responsible for designing the user interface for Miller Tanner Associates’ VALTs – Virtual Assessment, Learning and Training Source and I get to work directly with our clients to help build their individual training portals.

What aspects of your job do you enjoy most?

I like working on a product that is constantly evolving. I also enjoy helping our clients create their VALTs, so they are getting the best value from this product.

What is one (or more) of the top values that VALTs provides to the customer and/or attendee experience?

The benefits of VALTs include security, tracking of training, and efficiency in sharing new and updated information. It’s a secure portal designed to house different types of media in an organized environment. Users can access the system at any time and view required modules or access reference documents. Clients can use the system to push out new and/or updated material in an efficient and timely manner. Additionally, clients have real-time reporting available that will provide details on user activity (who has completed what items and when it was completed).

What are some ways in which our customers have used VALTs successfully as a resource for their meeting/event?

Every client uses VALTs differently since we have several features to help engage users. With that said, I find that clients who use the system as a pre-trainer as well as continuously add new or updated information – whether that be sharing amendments, newsletters, or internal recordings from meetings – will get the most out of VALTs. It becomes a quick and efficient way to share the latest material and there is real-time tracking to view who has completed specific items.

What should every event include in their LMS to make it a success?

If our clients are having a virtual meeting, I think adding mandatory training (either for pre-training or to be released at the conclusion of the meeting) is beneficial. This allows for added time to focus on longer and possibly more complicated presentations during the live session. Additionally, recording the content is a great way to expand your trainings reach to ensure that those who are required (for example, in the case of future onboarding) or those who just want to hear (for example, support staff) the information shared, get a chance.

You live in Colorado. What’s your favorite thing about the state? What are three must-sees in Colorado?

I’m originally from Minnesota – the land of 10,000 lakes and ICE!  I moved to Colorado in 2013.  Although I miss the water that Minnesota offers, there is nothing like the mountains!  I think that anyone coming to Colorado should go to Rocky Mountain National Park.  Even if you aren’t an outdoor person, the views are so beautiful.

I also love all things food and Colorado has a great food culture. Whether you are looking for delicious Thai, tasty street tacos, authentic Cuban, or a good burger, you will find it here.  Finally, you MUST see a show at Red Rocks.  Seeing the lights from Denver as the moon comes up, while listening to your favorite musicians – there isn’t anything like it!

What do you do for fun?

I love to travel and experience life in other parts of the world. When I’m home, I love spending time with friends and family, seeing live music, hiking with my dog, paddle boarding, and being outside.

Each summer, MTA comes together for a Workshop where we bring all of the team together for a week of training and team building. Why do you think that this is important? What do you get most from this time together?

Since we are a 100% virtual company, the entire group doesn’t always get the chance to engage with each other. Even when we do have a few moments between meetings and working on projects, it’s not enough time to really connect with another team member. The workshop gives us that opportunity. We disconnect from our computers and phones and focus on each other. We get to have conversations about our personal lives, laugh, do activities that bring us closer and just hang out. I think that’s incredibly beneficial for our company.

What do you feel makes Miller Tanner stand out most as meeting planning company?

The people, definitely the people!  MTA has people who love their jobs and care about what they do.  Our team is always thinking of ways to make our clients and everyone we meet, have the best experience when working with us. I think that is what speaks the loudest about MTA – the relationships we build internally and externally and the care we put into everything we do.
